About Us

Symbiosis: Pyramid Eclipse Festival – 2012 Pyramid Lake, Nevada
How we got started
Waste Busters was founded in 2008 to help events transition into the end goal of Zero Waste through composting and recycling. Over the years, the team has diligently educated vendors and producers on the harmful environmental impact excessive wastefulness has created. Sudbusters service was offered to special events as a project of Waste Busters from 2010-2013, to great acclaim, but due to some regulatory issues, we had to put the program on hold until 2019 when these issues were finally resolved and we could get back to dishwashing. Due to the increased complexity of both programs over the years, Sudbusters was incorporated separately as Sudbusters, Inc. in 2019 to better serve our customers with this improved and expanded program.
Zero Waste Events with Waste Busters, Inc. have succeeded in exceeding event goer’s expectations of a clean and green waste management system for events, but contrary to most people’s understanding, recycling and composting aren’t always as straightforward or successful at landfill diversion as we are led to believe.
There is a large service gap between generators of organic wastes and the availability of compost programs or other recyclers of food and organic wastes. Where there are programs intact, strict requirements are in place to avoid contaminated compost. Product manufacturers must have the correct labels and third party certification, and event food providers must use the correct certified products. Recycling and composting bins, signs and hauling services also need to be recognizable and readily available. Event participants need to responsibly sort their waste items, while the manual sorters should be thoroughly trained for the job and familiar with local service providers. This multistep system requires harmonious participation between every party involved in the process from start to finish. Sudbusters program takes the complication and confusion of recycling out of the equation and replaces it with a familiar, more efficient and easy to use program complete with dish return booths for patrons to visit after eating.
Not every event is able to site our mobile dishwashing program, originally designed for multi-day camp out events, so to expand our offering to a wider variety of clientele, we found our first physical location in 2019 in Richmond, California and began renovations to realize our vision of a high throughput dishwashing facility that enables us to offer our program to any and all events in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as farther afield with our dishes via freight offering.
For every problem in the world, there is always a solution. By working together, we can actively compost, reuse and recycle ourselves out of this mess and on our way to Zero Waste. So what are you waiting for? Give us a call today! SudBusters

Why the Duck
Rubber Ducks and The Great Pacific Garbage Patch:
You may be familiar with the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, but what you may not have heard is the story of more than 28,000 rubber ducks that were released into the ocean in 1992 when a boat crashed, releasing the contents of a shipping container of bath toys from China to the US. When scientists tracked the movement of the ducks on ocean currents around the world, they discovered what is now known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which is essentially clusters of micro-plastics spreading across millions of miles of ocean. That is why SudBusters was inspired to use the rubber duck icon as our logo, to help keep unnecessary single use disposable plastics out of our waste streams, and prevent ecosystem pollution!
