FAQs – Production
How do I rid my event of SUDs and all the trash?
Our reusable dish system comes complete with all the service ware your vendors need to feed your attendees. Our team manages the dish and deposit system at our DISH BOOTH that is set up in each food area.
Thanks to this system everybody participates in making zero waste by assuming responsibility for each cup and plate. The current user has paid a deposit to get the dish, which they pass on with the dish or cup.
Vendors get dishes from the dish booth and pay the deposit on every dish. When they serve their food they get their deposit back by charging the same deposit to the customer. When the customer returns the dish to the dish booth they get their deposit back in the form of a ticket or money. We wash the dishes and the cycle continues.
Who pays for the service?
Sudbustersinc charges a fee for service to the event producer. How events manage their budgets is up to them but logic would lead us to assume that part of our program costs are paid in part by food and bar vendor fees. They are getting a better quality service ware option than bringing their own disposables after-all.
Does everyone have to participate?
That would be best but there are always exceptions. Snow cones? They don’t need our plates. Corn dogs… maybe? The system works best when the event requires all vendors to fully participate in the system. Same for all event participants. Return your dishes, people!
I never had to pay for plates before! Why should I now?
Actually you did, or at least you paid to clean them up and compost or … landfill them. Your vendors in the past brought all this trash with them and spread it all around.
Our system is different. There is no trash. Instead of paying for that you’re hiring some dishwashers (us) and we eliminate garbage from the equation by giving everyone a better experience with better service ware!
This might inconvenience my guests?
Maybe if they are on a tight schedule they could choose to abandon their plate instead of returning to the DISH BOOTH. They would be out a dollar though. That dollar would be claimed by a less rushed guest that was going towards the food area anyway. The deposit does effectively crowd source trash collection but also increases attendee engagement and participation in a common cause with their community that you created. Whats the rush anyway? Participate!
FAQs – Participants
What’s up with the dish system?
Get past SUDs (Single use disposable) we are collaborating toward a sustainable solution where everybody assumes responsibility for doing their part and a deposit system is in play to assign a value on the reusable ware and the act of exchange.
How does it work?
If you don’t have a dish ticket yet and go to buy food they will charge you a deposit on your plate or cup. After you enjoy your food or beverage you participate in the return of these items to the Sudbusters DISH BOOTH in exchange for a dish ticket or deposit return ($).
If you notice someone that forgot to participate and abandoned a dish or cup, you can help out and return the cup and claim it’s deposit.
I am confused
That’s not a question but we get that a lot on the first day. It will be ok. Bring cups and plates to the dish booth and they give you money. Be sure that cup you picked up was truely abandoned and not just set down while the consumer of said beverage was showing off their juggling skills.
Whats with the tickets?
To make things easier on everyone, we give out dish tickets for returned dishes if we think you’re coming back for another round or another baklava. Give the ticket to the bar or vendor and you don’t need to pay a deposit when you buy your next drink or meal.
Basically, a dish ticket is as good as having a clean cup or plate in your pocket but more portable.
What can I do with my tickets when I am done and ready to leave?
You can probably cash in your tickets at the DISH BOOTH for cash. Don’t wait too long or forget to read the instructions! You can also tip your ticket to show some love to the dish crew.
So I can get money for returning dishes to the DISH BOOTH?
Probably, yes! There are some exceptions. We have set, posted hours and reserve the right to refuse to service those who try and game the system or otherwise cheat. It is fair game to claim the deposit on abandoned dishes but it is not fair game to solicit or offer to return other people’s dishes. Shady behavior will not earn you dish tickets nor cash. Thanks for bringing back your dishes!
Can I keep the cup?
Thanks for asking and no, we would prefer to reuse these cups at more events and eliminate disposables each time. Those cups reduce waste, and a lot of it! If you do keep it you forfeit your deposit.
Definitely do not keep the plates or utensils. We put a chip in them and will track you down!
Am I living in the future?
